George R. Bisacca- Director of Athletics
Head Basketball Coach
La"ryer Coach George Bisacca. the most successful coach in the
history of Fairfield University, is now entering his sixth season as
varsity mentor. In his five year tenure, Bisacca's teams have compiled
a creditable 76-45 record. Three times Bisacca guided the Stags to the
Tri-State League titles and to the X.C..\.A. College Di,·ision Tournament.
Bisacea's most succes ful sea on was in 1961-62 when his team
was voted the Top Small College Team in the East after finishing the
season with an amazing 20-5 record.
Oddly enough, George's basketball career tarted on this same
Fairfield campus when he played for Fairfield Prep. He was a member
of Prep's great '44-'45 team and from there he went on to play
for Georgetown University under Elmer Ripley. While at Georgetown
Law School, George played as a professional with the \Vashington
Cliftons.
Prior to becoming head coach at the University, Bisacca established
a sensational record over a period of six years at Fair field Prep
where his teams were constantly rated among the top high school
teams in the state.
Last year George was appointed to the post of Athletic Director
of the University. George, the father of five, resides in Fairfield
where he also carries on his Jaw practice.
