Notes	John Henry Newman was born in February 1801 and died in August 1890. Originally ordained a priest in the Church of England, Newman was an early leader of the Oxford Movement. He converted to Catholicism in 1845 and soon became a Catholic priest. He was made a Cardinal by Pope Leo XII in 1879. His writings on the importance of ministering to Catholic students at non-Catholic universities have inspired the creation of Newman centers all over the world. Newman was beatified by Pope Benedict in September 2010. His feast day is October 9th.
