Scope and Content of Papers
This record group includes print material related to the activities of the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (UCC) from 1968 – 1989. The UCC sought to oversee university-wide curriculum changes, rather than pre-empting decision-making by individual departments. The committee was charged with seeking out opinions and recommendations regarding the curriculum from students, faculty and administration; they were also responsible for fielding initial requests for new courses or changes to the curriculum. The committee also had input regarding curriculum policies (such as the pass/fail grading system) and periodically reviewed the efficacy of the university core curriculum. Material includes: meeting minutes, agendas, correspondence, surveys, reports, and material related to curriculum policies and evaluation. All files are arranged chronologically, although certain files may include copies of previous reports and minutes if they are relevant to the topics under discussion by the committee.
