Description	Handwritten note from Corita Kent to Audrey Thomson, the Director of Special Events at Fairfield University. “Outstanding Women” was the theme of Fairfield University’s eighth annual cultural festival held in autumn of 1971. This note is part of an exchange of letters between Audrey Thomson, Director of Special Events, with Corita Kent and Mary Downey (sister of Corita Kent), regarding an exhibition of the artist’s serigraphs as part of this festival.
Notes	Corita Kent (November 20, 1918 – September 18, 1986) also known as Sister Mary Corita Kent, was an artist and educator of international fame. She entered the Roman Catholic order of Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Los Angeles in 1936 and later ran the Art Department at Immaculate Heart College until 1968 when she left the order to work as an artist in Boston. Her vibrant artwork, with its messages of love and peace, became particularly popular during the social upheavals of the 1960s and 1970s.
