Description	Typed letter from Mrs. Audrey Thomson, the Director of Special Events at Fairfield University, to Mrs. Mary Downey, the sister of artist Corita Kent. “Outstanding Women” was the theme of Fairfield University’s eighth annual cultural festival held in autumn of 1971. This note is part of an exchange of letters between Audrey Thomson, Director of Special Events, with Corita Kent and Mary Downey (sister of Corita Kent), regarding an exhibition of the artist’s serigraphs as part of this festival.
Notes	Corita Kent (November 20, 1918 – September 18, 1986) also known as Sister Mary Corita Kent, was an artist and educator of international fame. She entered the Roman Catholic order of Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Los Angeles in 1936 and later ran the Art Department at Immaculate Heart College until 1968 when she left the order to work as an artist in Boston. Her vibrant artwork, with its messages of love and peace, became particularly popular during the social upheavals of the 1960s and 1970s.

Dear Mary, August 5, 1971 Enclosed is a check for $50 representing rental cost of an exhibition of Carita Serigraph Prints for our Autu~ Festival in September. We await them eagerly. We understand that in the event of sa~e of any prints the University Cultural Events program will benefit by 40~. The unsold prints will be returned early in October. Thank you tor the pro~otion material and your note. I would love to have some of her note-cards for sale among our Faculty Wi~e s Club me~bers . Is this possible? And does Corita have Christm&s Card designs? I find my moods soaring with every glimpse of her work and I am eure others ~ould like to hava these too. I have not seen them in the stores. If there is a collection available and sendable I would like to know of prices, terms etc . It would be nice to be able to shar e Corita ~ore ~ully. And thank you, Mary, for all of this.
