(1607-1646) who was born in Orleans, France. A Jesuit who worked among Native Americans in Canada, he was killed near what is now Albany, New York.

According to the photographer, “the construction started with footings and foundations - then the floor was poured. The arches were poured in forms on the floor. If I remember correctly, three arches were formed on top of each other with a non-stick coating between. The arches were lifted in place and bracing was introduced. Once the roofing was applied, the forms were built to pour the seating deck. A wall was built to separate the building into two gyms.”

An ice sculpture of the word “FAIRFIELD” welcomed the couples to the formal dance. Fairfield beer mugs were party favors for the guests. The Chic Chicetti Big Band provided music for dancing to the Lindy, fox trot and the two-step. Miss Frances Burriesci of Stamford, escorted by Robert S. Bello ’58, was crowned Winter Carnival Queen.
